The Clock Struck Midnight

There’s a lantern in the sky
Resting on dark crushed velvet
Pin pricks of silver
Watch it’s beams dance across
White walls
Surrounding the silence
That fills the spaces
Between every breath
I take
An old memory
Tacked to that velvet
Left to fade in the darkest dark sky
Those beams of silver quietly tiptoe from
White washed walls
Across the creaky wooden floor
To escape through the window
Back to the lantern
